  • Andrew Wells | Chair

    A long-time local resident, Andrew was the University Librarian at UNSW and contributed widely to university life, serving on the Student Union and Arc Boards from 2004 to 2008. He has held senior roles at the National Library of Australia and the State Library of NSW. In recognition of his contributions, Andrew received the inaugural Ifould Medal in 2014 and was appointed an AM in 2017 for services to the library profession.

  • Margaret Murphy | Deputy Chair

    Margaret has worked in television production with the ABC, BBC, and SBS, and as Executive Producer for major international events including Eurovision and  Sydney Mardi Gras. With strong leadership and budget management skills, she brings extensive industry experience to the Board. Margaret lives in Paddington and volunteers at the Centre.

  • Mary Collier | Director

    Mary has lived and worked in Kings Cross for 30 years. She founded and ran her own company designing, sourcing, and importing fashion, homewares, and jewellery from India, and now works part-time at a local fashion boutique.

  • John Boers | Director

    John holds graduate qualifications in clinical and organisational psychology, as well as urban planning, heritage conservation, and urban horticulture. A local resident, he has been a volunteer at the Centre for two years.

  • John Ferguson | Treasurer

    John has worked in the not-for-profit sector for over 35 years and brings extensive financial and governance experience to the Board. He served as Accountant for South Eastern Community Connect for 23 years, during which time he supported the organisation’s growth from 15 to over 50 employees. John continues to provide accounting services to a range of community organisations including the Local Community Services Association, New South Wales Family Services, BMiles Women’s Foundation, Rainbow Street Early Learning Centre, Coogee Surf Club, Waverley Drug & Alcohol, and the Kings Cross Community Centre.

  • Olivia Robertson | Secretary

    Olivia is a solicitor with comprehensive legal experience across both government and private practice. She has served on a board for more than ten years and possesses a thorough understanding of the legal and practical responsibilities associated with governance. Olivia values community service and is committed to contributing her expertise in her role as Secretary of the Kings Cross Community Centre.

  • Susan Carleton | Director

    Susie has owned and managed restaurants and hotels in Sydney and was a founder of New Matilda magazine. A long-time Surry Hills resident, she has served on several arts and not-for-profit boards. She currently chairs The Redfern Foundation, which supports Aboriginal-led community organisations promoting social, educational, and employment equity.

  • Jo Holder | Director

    Jo is a long-standing advocate for social equity and community engagement in the inner city. She is a convenor of the Darlinghurst Residents Association and has previously served on the Kings Cross Community Centre Board as Vice President, working alongside the late housing advocate Ross Smith. Jo continues to champion the cause of affordable housing in the inner city. In 2003, she co-founded The Cross Art Projects in Kings Cross to advance equality and social justice issues through contemporary art. Jo has also held significant curatorial and leadership roles in both the public and independent sectors, including serving as Director of the S.H. Ervin Gallery in Sydney.

  • Rory Sutton | Director

    Rory is an experienced television and video producer and writer who enjoyed a long and distinguished career with the ABC. During his tenure, he held a range of senior roles including Reporter, Producer, Executive Producer, and Manager, notably serving as Manager of Television Victoria and Federal Head of ABC Sport. His program credits include AM, PM, This Day Tonight, Nationwide, Four Corners, The Country Hour, and A Big Country. A long time Potts Point resident, Rory is committed to supporting organisations that enhance the welfare of communities and the specific needs of individuals.
