  • Lisa Cotton | Chair

    A Potts Point resident for more than 30 years, Lisa is committed to giving back to the local community by contributing her skills and experience to support the Centre and its programs for residents.

    Lisa brings extensive leadership experience from a corporate career in financial services and telecommunications, with strong capabilities in strategy, business planning, operations, digital delivery and transformation, communications, and people leadership.

    A natural collaborator and active contributor, Lisa is known for their integrity, curiosity, energy, and commitment to creating positive change. Lisa prides herself on being well-prepared, fact-based and outcome-focused, and strongly champion robust governance, diverse perspectives, and constructive debate.

  • Mary Collier | Deputy Chair

    Mary has lived and worked in Kings Cross for 30 years. She founded and ran her own company designing, sourcing, and importing fashion, homewares, and jewellery from India, and now works part-time at a local fashion boutique.

  • Lindy McLeod | Secretary

    Lindy McLeod has been a property owner and resident of Darlinghurst since 2003 and is passionate about her local community. She brings valuable business and entrepreneurial experience to the Board, having founded and successfully operated her own import business for 15 years, specialising in handwoven Moroccan baskets. This venture not only supported traditional artisans in Morocco but also promoted long-lasting, biodegradable alternatives to plastic shopping bags.

    Lindy is an active volunteer at the Kings Cross Op Shop and runs a community garage sale from her Liverpool Street garage, selling donated books and household items. All proceeds are donated to Doctors Without Borders, reflecting her strong commitment to social impact and community wellbeing. Lindy looks forward to contributing her practical business skills, community spirit and longstanding local knowledge to the Board.

     

  • Andrew Wells | Treasurer

    A long-time local resident, Andrew was the University Librarian at UNSW and contributed widely to university life, serving on the Student Union and Arc Boards from 2004 to 2008. He has held senior roles at the National Library of Australia and the State Library of NSW. In recognition of his contributions, Andrew received the inaugural Ifould Medal in 2014 and was appointed an AM in 2017 for services to the library profession.

  • Margaret Murphy | Director

    Margaret has worked in television production with the ABC, BBC, and SBS, and as Executive Producer for major international events including Eurovision and  Sydney Mardi Gras. With strong leadership and budget management skills, she brings extensive industry experience to the Board. Margaret lives in Paddington and volunteers at the Centre.

  • Jo Holder | Director

    Jo is a long-standing advocate for social equity and community engagement in the inner city. She is a convenor of the Darlinghurst Residents Association and has previously served on the Kings Cross Community Centre Board as Vice President, working alongside the late housing advocate Ross Smith. Jo continues to champion the cause of affordable housing in the inner city. In 2003, she co-founded The Cross Art Projects in Kings Cross to advance equality and social justice issues through contemporary art. Jo has also held significant curatorial and leadership roles in both the public and independent sectors, including serving as Director of the S.H. Ervin Gallery in Sydney.

  • Rory Sutton | Director

    Rory is an experienced television and video producer and writer who enjoyed a long and distinguished career with the ABC. During his tenure, he held a range of senior roles including Reporter, Producer, Executive Producer, and Manager, notably serving as Manager of Television Victoria and Federal Head of ABC Sport. His program credits include AM, PM, This Day Tonight, Nationwide, Four Corners, The Country Hour, and A Big Country. A long time Potts Point resident, Rory is committed to supporting organisations that enhance the welfare of communities and the specific needs of individuals.

  • Indira Naidoo | Director

    As a Potts Point resident - on the land of the Gadigal people -  for the past 27 years Indira is deeply committed to the local community and to improving services for its most vulnerable residents. A long-standing ambassador for the Wayside Chapel, Indira has spent 15 years supporting its mission, helping to establish the organisation’s award-winning rooftop garden and gardening program for its homeless visitors. Indira is also the Patron of the Kings Cross Community Garden.

    With a 36-year career across SBS TV, ABC TV, ABC Radio, Indira has also worked for the United Nations in Geneva as a communications specialist and for consumer advocacy group CHOICE. Indira brings extensive expertise in media and communications. Her achievements including creating the annual CHOICE Shonky Awards, gaining valuable experience in board governance, and co-creating Sydney’s VIVID festival. Indira currently hosts ABC TV’s Compass.

  • Peter Whitehead | Director

    Peter Whitehead brings decades of creative, educational and community leadership to the Board. He holds a Diploma of Education from UNSW, and formal training in acting and directing from the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Arts and NIDA. Peter has built a rich career across the performing arts and community advocacy.

    A Darlinghurst resident since 1989, Peter has long contributed to the cultural life of Sydney’s east. He has served on the boards of the Griffin Theatre Company, was co-founder and Chair of Parnassus’ Den, and later served on the East Coast Theatre Company board. He also previously served on the Kings Cross Community Centre board from 2009– 2011.

    Peter is a familiar face in the community through various volunteer roles. Deeply connected to Kings Cross and its evolving character, Peter is committed to helping foster and strengthen the enduring “Spirit of the Cross.”
