National Volunteer Week | Morning Tea
National Volunteer Week 2026 has begun, Australia’s largest annual celebration of volunteering, recognising the millions of people who continue to strengthen communities through their time, care, and contributions. This year’s theme, Your Year to Volunteer, is both a thank you to those already volunteering and an invitation for more people across Australia to explore how volunteering can fit into their lives in meaningful and flexible ways.
PLAYGROUP AT PLUNKETT STREET
Kings Cross Community Centre and Plunkett Street Public School are excited to launch a brand-new community playgroup! Come along for a morning of play, connection, creativity and fun in a relaxed and welcoming space. Volunteer Workforce
The Federal Budget offers welcome reforms and initiatives to support Australians and communities at a time of significant cost-of-living pressures and uncertainty. Volunteering is critical to Australian society, especially at times like this, delivering essential services from support in the care economy to food relief and shelter as well as strengthening community cohesion, improving mental health and reducing social isolation.

Volunteer x Board Celebration
Our recent celebration of the new office space with the KXCC Board, staff and volunteers was a great chance to get together.
We heard from our Chair, Lisa Cotton, on the progress of creating our 3 year strategic plan and an announcement on how our discretionary funding will be used to benefit our community.
Thanks to everyone who came along.

Become a Volunteer
At the Kings Cross Community Centre, our volunteers are at the heart of everything we do. Their generosity, energy, and spirit help us support our community each and every day — in ways both big and small.
Register for Aged Care
My Aged Care is often described as the doorway into the aged care system for everyone. Yet many of us struggle to navigate the system and some people are getting left behind. As we get older, there are things we need to think about, and prepare for, so we can live the way we choose for as long as possible. In February we are running help and information sessions all about My Aged Care. We can answer your questions, help you register online or refer you for an assessment.
Singing Lessons with Paula Terry
Paula Terry, a Potts Point resident and gifted vocalist, is celebrated for her ability to traverse a wide spectrum of genres with ease. Together with her band, she regularly brings the house down at Sean & Dolly’s on William Street, Clair's Kitchen and Potts Point Hotel delivering crowd-favourite 90’s revival hits. Beyond the stage, Paula shares her artistry with the next generation, teaching and mentoring aspiring singers with the same passion she brings to every performance. We are delighted to announce that Paula is giving a series of singing lessons for KXCC members, volunteers and local residents. The lessons are weekly over six weeks and especially suitable for people over 60.

Please help KXCC improve its services and extend its outreach by participating fully.
