Our volunteers are the heart of the Cross.

Give a few hours, gain a whole community. There's a role — and a door — for you here.

What our volunteers do

Our volunteers are the heart of the Kings Cross Community Centre — and there's more than one way to pitch in.

  • In the Op Shop, front and back of house — sorting, steaming and pricing donations, and giving every customer a warm welcome.

  • Out in the community, supporting our older locals — transport to appointments, a hand on shopping trips, or simply catching up over coffee.

  • At reception and in the office, helping keep the Centre running smoothly every day.

How to Volunteer

Getting started is easy. Pop into the KX Op Shop and fill out a form in person, or download one using the button below and drop it to the office during the week, or into the shop on the weekend.

From there, you'll be invited to a 45-minute induction to meet the team and learn how we work and who we're here for. All volunteers and staff need a valid NSW police check. We'd love to have you.

Why volunteer

  • Belong — there's a door for you here, whatever your age or background.

  • Make a difference close to home — practical help that genuinely changes someone's week.

  • Be first to the fun — volunteers and members are first to every celebration and social gathering.
