Our first Jazz Up the Cross event held over the weekend was a wonderful success, drawing a full house and filling Fitzroy Gardens with the wonderful sound of blues, jazz and a touch of disco!
Our Emcee Vashti Hughes transformed into the fictional character Helen Ginsberg for the afternoon, entertaining us by recreating the Cross of old. With outstanding performances from our jazz musicians and singers: Robert Susz, Paula Terry, and Trevor Brown & band. With outstanding performances from our jazz musicians and singers: Robert Susz, Paula Terry, and Trevor Brown & band.
We also had some visitors from the inner west in the form of poets: Melita Rouston - who read the famous Kenneth Slessor poem: You call it ugly, I call it lovely and Whateva Eva, who both added literary panache to the programme.
A heartfelt thank-you to our volunteers, Board, staff, and the KX community for showing-up and participating in making our first outdoor event such a memorable occasion. Stand-by for news about what’s next!
